Github tracks your email notifications

Any person who sends you an email can track you by embedding images in HTML.
Whenever these images are loaded from the servers, they know that you have opened that email.

To your surprise, Github has been doing the same.
Whenever a subscribed event takes place, github puts the notification in your github inbox and then sends you an email.
There will be a blue dot on your github notifications tab.
The email github sends is an HTML email. It contains a tracker image. If you open the email with HTML
or images enabled, Github knows you have read the notification.
It'll then automatically mark the notification as "read".
